Trump to Nominate Bridget A. Brink to Post of US Ambassador to Slovakia

Washington, March 20 (TASR) - US President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced his intention to nominate Bridget A. Brink from Michigan for the post of US ambassador to Slovakia, the White House announced on the same day. Brink is a senior and influential career diplomat who in the past worked as deputy assistant secretary at the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs at the Department of State. During her twenty years in the foreign service she's promoted US policy in Europe and Eurasia as deputy chief of missions in Tbilisi, Georgia, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan. In an earlier stage of her career she worked in the National Security Council, where she was responsible for coordination in the Aegean region (Turkey, Greece, and Cyprus) and the Caucasus. The council is the main advisory body to the US president on questions of national security, the army and foreign policy. She obtained a bachelor's degree at Kenyon College, Ohio and two master's degrees at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Brink speaks Russian and Serbian along with basic Georgian and French. The president's nominations are approved by the Senate, the upper chamber of the US Congress. If her nomination is okayed, Brink will replace Adam Sterling, who has been occupying the post since 2016. zel/df
