Constitutional Court's Current Priority: Reducing Pending Submissions

25. apríla 2019 20:31
Kosice, April 25 (TASR) - Newly appointed chairman of the Constitutional Court Ivan Fiacan stated on Thursday that the Court"s priority will be to reduce the number of unsettled matters and the average duration of proceedings. The Court registers 970 pending submissions which have been submitted from January 1 until now. Currently the average duration of a proceeding at the Court is almost nine months. "We"ll do everything in order to push down these statistical indicators. At the same time we will immediately start dealing with the submissions concerning the presidential election," he stated. Fiacan noted that he"s glad that the Court now has two working senates, adding that he"d be even more glad if the Court was complete, as it still lacks six judges. zel/mcs
