Finance Ministry: Public Deficit Went Up Y-o-y by 45% to €3.2 Bn in April

Bratislava, May 2 (TASR) - The state budget reached a deficit of €3.2 billion in April 2024, amounting to a year-on-year increase of €1.005 billion or 45.8 percent, the Finance Ministry reported on Thursday. On the other hand, the state budget's income dropped y-o-y by €139 million or 2.4 percent to €5.614 billion, whereas the expenditure went up y-o-y by €866 million or 10.9 percent to €8.814 billion in April. Tax income grew y-o-y by €445 million or 9.5 percent. Expenditure related to the servicing of the state debt went up y-o-y by €47.9 million or 10.1 percent. In the category of budgetary expenditure related to the drawing of resources from the EU budget, a y-o-y uptick of €347.7 million or 49.1 percent was recorded. Expenditure related to drawing resources from the Recovery Plan saw a y-o-y increase of €8.7 million or 24.6 percent. The payment to the EU's budget went down y-o-y by €75.1 million or 23.9 percent. "The transfer to Socialna Poistovna social insurer recorded a growth of €650 million, seeing as it wasn't provided in the last year," added the Finance Ministry. mf/mcs
