Bratislava, February 3 (TASR) - A non-profit organisation called Depaul Slovakia has expressed outrage at the death of a homeless man who was found outside a shopping centre in Bratislava, condemning the physical assault against a homeless person, pointing out that violence is not the solution. Depaul also calls for the public to be more sensitive to homeless people, as they are human beings too. "Violence is never the solution. As a society, we must not condone or tolerate it," said the non-profit organisation, calling on authorities to investigate the case and hold somebody accountable. The NGO also asks people to be more sensitive in their behaviour but also in their communication about homeless people. "They are also human beings. Unfortunately, many face stigmatisation, dehumanisation and prejudice on a daily basis," noted Depaul Slovakia, which has been helping homeless people in the capital for 18 years. Acting Police Corps president Jana Maskarova said on Monday that police are working with multiple versions in the given case. According to Interior Ministry State Secretary Lucia Kurilovska, it can't yet be said whether police brutality was involved. According to the information of the TA3 website, it is suspected that the man had been attacked by private security personnel and a police patrol from the Bratislava borough of Ruzinov before being found on the premises of the shopping centre. The incident was said to have occurred after the man was caught shoplifting in the store. am/mcs
