Caputova to Congratulate New Japanese Emperor on Slovakia's Behalf

Tokyo, October 22 (TASR-correspondent) - Slovak President Zuzana Caputova will attend an evening banquet at the Tokyo Imperial Palace following the official coronation of new Japanese Emperor Naruhito on Tuesday, where she will congratulate the new emperor on behalf of Slovakia, TASR learnt on Tuesday. "Today is a historic day for Japan. I'm very pleased to have been invited to participate in the coronation. The main ceremony has been taking place during the day, now I'm heading to a banquet, where I'll have the opportunity to congratulate the new emperor on behalf of Slovakia, and, of course, I'll also have the opportunity to meet several heads of state from all over the world," said the president. Caputova enjoyed the coronation. "It was extremely interesting. It was very traditional, a typical Japanese process. It was very inspiring, at a very high level, with the participation of many kings and presidents from around the world," added Caputova. The guests included Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis, Britain's Prince Charles, Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen, King Philip VI of Spain, Hungarian President Janos Ader, former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Emperor Naruhito is the 126th Japanese Emperor. He acceded to the Chrysanthemum Throne on May 1, 2019, replacing his father Akihito. The Japanese Imperial Dynasty is the longest ruling dynasty in the world. Emperors from this family have ruled the country for at least 1,500 years. am/df
