Budapest/Bratislava, January 21 (TASR-correspondent) - Six cross-border transport connections will be built between Hungary and Slovakia by 2023, including three bridges over the Ipel River, Hungarian Foreign Affairs Minister Peter Szijjarto announced in Budapest after his telephone call with Slovak Transport and Construction Minister Andrej Dolezal (We Are Family nominee) on Thursday.
In his Facebook post, Szijjarto pointed out that Hungary"s longest border is with Slovakia, which is why Budapest will pursue the opening of the highest possible number of cross-border connections.
"We will complete the section of expressway between Miskovec and Tornyosnemeti by the autumn of this year and then Hungary will be connected to Slovakia via highways in the west (Rajka-Rusovce) but also in the east. In this context, we often joke that the connection between Bratislava and Kosice has been done through Hungary," posted Szijjarto.
The two ministers also plan to continue talks about high-speed railway connection of Budapest and Warsaw via Bratislava once the coronavirus pandemic is over.
