Trial Over Attempted Murder of TV Markiza's Former Co-owner Adjourned

Bratislava, October 14 (TASR) - Bratislava District Court II adjourned trial in the case of attempted murder of Sylvia Klaus-Volzova, the erstwhile co-owner of TV Markiza, to January 20, 2022, Bratislava Regional Court spokesperson Pavol Adamciak confirmed to TASR on Thursday. During the trial, seven witnesses had delivered their testimonies thus far, including former members of 'Sykorovci' crime gang, Alojz "Eraser" Kromka who serves a life sentence, a former member of TV Markiza security team, former TV Markiza reporter and widow of late actor Lubomir Gregor, Lubomira Gregorova. Stefan A. [name abbreviated due to legal reasons], sentenced to 13 years in jail over the counterfeiting of TV Markiza promissory notes, was summoned as a witness to the trial, yet he didn't show up or excuse his absence. Facing charges of the attempted murder are former TV Markiza general director and ex-Economy Minister Pavol R., 'Sykorovci' crime boss Robert "Bucket" Lalis, crime boss Mikulas "Miki" Cernak and Milos Kastan. The trial began in May 2019. Cernak and Kastan plead guilty to the charges, whereas the Bucket and Pavol R. continue to claim their innocence. Cernak had apologised to Klaus-Volzova for planning her murder. mf
