Tirana/Bratislava, December 6 (TASR-correspondent) - By holding its summit in the Albanian capital of Tirana, the EU has sent a rather positive signal that it's serious about the induction of Western Balkans countries into the EU, Prime Minister Eduard Heger (OLaNO) declared after the conclusion of the summit on Tuesday.
"The interconnection, also in terms of tourism, is a positive result and it clearly resonated as such, particularly the deal among telecommunication companies on roaming harmonisation, set to come into effect as of October of the next year. I think that this decision will be appreciated also by our citizens," stated Heger, adding that roaming prices are due to be reduced gradually until their complete equalisation with the EU in 2029.
The Tirana summit revolved around current issues such as migration. "We also talked about the energy infrastructure - here we see another field for important short-term cooperation. We need to invest more into the infrastructure. There's a great leeway for investments and mutual economic interconnection," claimed the Slovak Prime Minister.
Heger underlined that the Western Balkans region is important for Europe also in terms of security.
