Bratislava, April 20 (TASR) - The Slovak S-300 anti-air defence system continues to save Ukrainian lives, Ukrainian Ambassador to Slovakia Myroslav Kastran told interim Slovak Defence Minister Jaroslav Nad during their meeting on Thursday.
TASR learnt the news from Defence Ministry spokesperson Martina Kakascikova on the same day.
The meeting revolved around the situation in Ukraine, the Slovak aid and other options of help for the Ukraine. The Ukrainian ambassador thanked Slovakia for its military and humanitarian aid. "The Ukrainian nation will remember the prompt and unselfish help from Slovakia forever," Kastran declared about the recent delivery of 13 MiG-29 fighter jets and part of the KUB anti-aircraft defence system.
The Ukrainian ambassador confirmed that the Slovak S-300 system is still operational and successfully helps defend the Ukrainian territory from Russian missile attacks. Kastran underlined that Slovakia was among the first countries to provide such efficient weapon systems to Ukraine.
Nad noted that Ukraine has had Slovak support since the beginning of the conflict. "Russian command must understand at last that this conflict brings nothing but death and destruction. But unlike the aggressor, however, Ukrainians are fighting a just war for freedom and values that Putin's regime in Russia has drowned in hatred. That's why Ukraine has received the support from the entire civilised world and that's why it will stand on the side of the winners," added Nad.
