Bratislava, May 2 (TASR) - Bratislava police received 25 new plug-in hybrid cars of Toyota brand, with the procurement financed under the Recovery Plan, TASR learnt from the Interior Ministry on Tuesday. Toyota RAV4 PHEVs were handed over to the Police Corps on Tuesday by interim Interior Minister Roman Mikulec. Based on the outcome of a public tender, the Interior Ministry procured 400 SUVs at €67,546 per car, VAT-included. The total commission was worth more than €27 million, said ministry state secretary Tomas Oparty. "By virtue of the Recovery Plan, we will speed up the replacement and modernisation of the ministry's obsolete car fleet and thus cut down on maintenance and servicing costs. In addition, we will increase the safety of the crews and, last but not least, this is a great leap towards the ecologisation of our vehicle fleet, too," said Oparty, pointing out that the new cars meet the most stringent emission norms. Police chief Stefan Hamran pointed out that the new SUVs will be assigned only to rank-and-file police departments. "Never in the history of the Slovak police were cars of this category assigned to police departments in such mass quantity and, particularly, with such parameters as these vehicles," he claimed. The Interior Ministry is also installing charging stations across Slovakia. The plan calls for the building of 230 charging points in Slovakia within two months. mf/mcs
