Brussels, September 9 (TASR-correspondent) - An exhibition of photographs by Slovak creative artist Lenka L. Lukacovicova was opened on the premises of the Slovak Consulate General in Brussels earlier this week, TASR has learnt from Consul General Andrej Michalec.
The consul general noted that the event is being held under the Slovak House brand as part of a broader and longer-term project - the street-art gallery 40 x 60 Brussels.
Thanks to the support of the Slovak Consulate General in Brussels, the Slovak photographer underwent a creative stay in Belgium in August 2023. Some of the works that she produced during the stay are now being exhibited in the form of an open studio at the Consulate General in Brussels.
"In my photographic research, I focused on mapping the Belgian landscape and certain basic signs that were significant for me. While intensively traversing the country, I drew on my previous visual memories of living in Belgium with my mother," the creative artist has told TASR.
Lukacovicova studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava and the LUCA School of Arts under the guidance of Ana Torfs in Brussels. She's taken part in several study exchanges abroad and is currently teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. Her work has received numerous international awards and is displayed in Slovakia and abroad.
The Slovak House, set up by the Consulate General in Brussels, aims to promote cultural and artistic activities of Slovaks living in Belgium and Luxembourg.
