Bratislava, September 21 (TASR) - The key priorities for OLaNO are the fight against corruption, justice for all, aid for families and the young, quality education and research, and a properly working health-care system, party representatives announced at a press conference on Thursday. "We stand at a crossroads in the development of our country, and our election programme corresponds to this. It not only includes extraordinary measures, such as a €500 reward for participation in elections, but also a hundred anti-corruption measures and more than 1,000 measures in various areas of public life for the benefit of the public and Slovakia," said OLaNO MP and candidate Milan Vetrak. When it comes to fighting corruption, the party wants, for instance, to bolster the capacity of the whistleblowers-protection office and the financial police. Another aim is to set up an office for the protection of the public interest. OLaNO candidate and ex-interior minister Roman Mikulec explained that the party wants to streamline legislation on the management of seized property and introduce public-interest prosecutions. The party at the same time rejected the notion of scrapping the Special Prosecutor's Office. Justice, in OLaNO's view, should be provided, for instance, by stabilisating the Judicial Council. According to Vetrak, there's also a need to create a prosecutorial council to cleanse the prosecution service. Further measures involve amending Section 363 of the Penal Code and bolstering legal centres. In terms of family policy, OLaNO candidate Erika Jurinova highlighted the aim of pushing through a permanent €200-per-month allowance per child. Another proposed measure is a tax bonus of €100 for mothers and young people. The movement also plans to push for the option of deferring mortgage repayments for families with children up to the age of six. As for education, OLaNO candidate Marek Sefcik stated that the party wants to support the expansion of pre-school capacities across Slovakia. It would like to peg teachers' salaries to growth in the average salary. The movement is proposing an education credit card, which would allow people access to classes of lifelong learning. Last but not least, OLaNO also aims to allocate 2 percent of Slovakia's GDP to science and research by 2027. zel/df
