Kiev/Bratislava, September 30 (TASR) - In addition to speaking at the DFNC1 conference panel, caretaker Defence Minister Martin Sklenar held bilateral talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as well as with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov in Kiev on Friday (September 29), the Defence Ministry's press department has informed TASR. "Slovakia was among the first countries to express their clear support for Ukraine, even through difficult decisions on the provision of military aid, including military equipment that is so important to Ukraine, as it has the ability to protect lives in the hands of Ukrainian defenders," said Sklenar when commenting on the thanks expressed to Slovakia by President Zelenskyy. Sklenar specified that the Ukrainian president highlighted all the help, namely the important decision to provide Ukraine with 13 MiG-29 fighter jets at a time when the country urgently needed it. They also discussed the possibilities of further support, including areas with the potential involvement of Slovak defence industry companies, especially in mine-sweaping, but also in in other areas. "The importance of this aid to Ukraine is unquestionable, both for Ukraine, as well as for Slovakia and the global international community. Not only moral, but also significant security and economic factors are a clear message that a free and democratic Ukraine is extremely important for our future," stressed the minister. ko
