Bratislava, October 24 (TASR) - Progressive Slovakia (PS) parliamentary caucus will be chaired by party founding member Martin Dubeci, TASR has learnt from the PS communication department.
The decision was made by MPs elected for the party at their meeting on Tuesday.
PS presidium member Simona Petrik will be the vice-chair of the caucus.
The newly-elected chairman realises that leading the strongest opposition caucus is a huge responsibility. "We want to build a high-quality parliamentary platform, watch the steps by government members, draw attention to their missteps and suggest how to make things better. I personally will defend the values and goals of PS as well as possible also in contact with the parliament's leadership and other parliamentary caucuses," he said. At the same time, I want to devote myself to improving the internal functioning of the parliament," said Dubeci.
Dubeci last worked as the general manager of the Tabacka cultural centre in Kosice. He also wants to devote his parliamentary work to the region.
PS garnered 17.96 percent of votes in the general election, which secured 32 MP seats.
The founding House session will be held on Wednesday (October 25). Newly-elected MPs will be sworn in at the session. A new parliamentary chair and vice-chairs will be elected, parliamentary caucuses and committees will be formed.
