Bratislava, November 6 (TASR) - The Week of Science and Technology in Slovakia started on Monday and will last until November 12, the Education, Science, Research and Sport Ministry's communications department has informed TASR. The twentieth such annual event will include hundreds of lectures, festivals, workshops, contests, discussions and podcasts for science enthusiasts. Accompanying events aimed at making science more popular will take place all over Slovakia as well. "Improving people's perception of science and technology and popularising scientific results with an emphasis on their importance for society - this is the goal of the Week of Science and Technology in Slovakia 2023. This year's slogan is 'Step by Step Towards Progress', said the ministry. The events are primarily intended for primary and secondary school students, whose participation in individual activities should encourage them to study scientific and technical disciplines. The programme also includes events for both the general and professional public, giving them an opportunity to present their activities and the results of them. Many institutes of the Slovak Academy of Science, university faculties and various research institutions in Slovakia are organising open days for the public as part of the week. One of the main organisers, the Scientific and Technical Information Centre (CVTI), will welcome visitors to its events not only on its premises in Bratislava, but also in the Aurelium Science Experience Centre. Science can also be encountered on social networks, with podcasts on various issues and a number of competitions. All the events taking place during the Week of Science and Technology have been published on the www.tyzdenvedy.sk website. The main organisers of the week are the Education, Science, Research and Sport Ministry and CVTI. ko/df
