Simecka: Progressive Slovakia Won't Vote for Confidence in Fico's Government

Bratislava, November 16 (TASR) - The government of Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) doesn't deserve confidence. Its nanifesto isn't specific and the government has neither the ambition nor the ability to govern for the benefit of the citizens of Slovakia, Progressive Slovakia (PS) leader Michal Simecka told a news conference held in the premises of the parliament on Thursday. "Neither the government, nor its MPs are able to defend their programme. Just a minimum of ministers took the floor in parliament and the premier delivered only a very short speech. It's disrespectful to the citizens who participated in the election," said Simecka. Parliamentary debate on the Government Manifesto is continuing for the third day on Thursday. According to Simecka, PS MPs approached the debate with respect and dignity, and every MP for the party participated in the debate. They subjected the Government Manifesto to expert criticism in every area. Simecka reiterated that as soon as the vote of confidence in the government is over, he will file a motion to convene a special House session with a no-confidence motion in Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD) being a sole point on the agenda. "Sutaj Estok should never have held this post, every single injunction issued by a court shows that the interior minister is acting in contradiction to the law," stated Simecka. Parliament might vote on the Government Manifesto as soon as on Thursday. Parliamentary Chair Peter Pellegrini (Voice-SD) said he'll submit a procedural proposal so that the session is extended after 8 p.m. if the debate isn't finished by then. ko/mcs
