Culture Ministry to Nix Fight Against Disinformation, Reallocate Money to Reduta

Bratislava, November 29 (TASR) - The Culture Ministry will in 2023 discontinue a subsidy programme designed to develop and support digital literacy, media education and the fight against disinformation, and use the resources instead for the financing of Bratislava University Library and the completion of reconstruction works on the Reduta historical building's roof, TASR learnt from the ministry press department on Wednesday. The Culture Ministry proposed to reallocate the resources to complete the works on Reduta's roof worth €258,000, which were originally budgeted in 2024. "This would enable the investment to be completed in 2023 both in terms of work and administration, and it would help the 2024 budget. Such an idea will surely meet with full support also from the Finance Ministry," announced the ministry, which plans to spend the rest of the sum - up to €200,000 - for the financing of Bratislava University Library's operation. mf
