SaS: We Speak on Budget Professionally, Without Artificially Protracting Debate

Bratislava, December 21 (TASR) - MPs for the Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party want to speak only professionally in the parliamentary debate on the draft state budget, without artificially protracting the discussion, party spokesman Ondrej Sprlak told TASR on Thursday. "Only Marian Viskupic has taken the floor on our behalf so far, it was professional and decent, and other MPs for SaS planned to join the debate in this manner as well," said Sprlak. Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) on Thursday accused the opposition of definitively choosing the path of destroying the state. He accused it of seeking to reject the budget via obstructions in Parliament, warning that this would have serious consequences for the lives of ordinary people. Fico believes that Parliament will eventually manage to complete the debate on the state budget and approve it, and he called on the opposition to stop obstructing it. Representatives of the 'Slovakia', For the People and Christian Union (KU) parties' caucus on Thursday claimed that the reason why their speeches concerning the draft budget in Parliament last several hours is that their priority is to postpone the debate on scrapping the Special Prosecutor's Office. A total of three MPs from this caucus have taken the floor in the debate on the budget since Wednesday (December 20), with each of them speaking for more than five hours. ko/mcs
