Tatiana Cervenova to Become Slovakia's New Chief Hygienist (2)

Bratislava, February 14 (TASR) - Tatiana Cervenova will replace Jan Mikas in the post of Slovakia's chief hygienist as of Thursday (February 15), said Health Minister Zuzana Dolinkova (Voice-SD), who decided on the change. "I believe that we'll bring new impetus to how the Public Health Office operates and functions. She is not only a highly qualified expert to serve in this post, but also a person with huge managerial experience. So, I believe that the office will regain the credibility it may have lost during the difficult pandemic years," said the minister. Dolinkova noted that the ministry was considering a personnel change in the post for quite some time. The fact that the co-governing Slovak National Party (SNS) called for Mikas's ouster was a coincidence, she said. "As there are only a few qualified experts in the field of public health in Slovakia, it wasn't easy to find a new chief hygienist. Previous chief hygienist Mikas himself has praised the expertise and experience of his successor, which attests to the fact that it really was a professional change," she added. Mikas has been serving in the post since 2016. The chief hygienist is responsible for the activities of the Public Health Office, which falls under the remit of the Health Ministry. ko/df
