Bratislava, March 22 (TASR) - Prosecutor-General (PG) Maros Zilinka has stressed that he's never personally acted in the criminal cases concerning former Slovak Intelligence Service (SIS) head Vladimir P. and that he tasked his deputy with the decision regarding the proposal to make use of Section 363 of the Penal Code. Zilinka said this in reaction to a statement by the opposition Progressive Slovakia (PS) that the charges against Vladimir P. and National Security Bureau (NBU) director Roman K. were being dropped. "I entrusted the first deputy PG with acting on behalf of the prosecutor-general. He decided on proposals from those charged within the deadline set by law and in a manner corresponding to the findings of serious violations of the law," stated Zilinka. He also pointed out that decision-making according to Section 363 of the Penal Code is of a procedural nature and that the decision doesn't mean an obstacle to continuing criminal proceedings and filing of an indictment in court. "The claim that 'Maros Zilinka is once again acting to the benefit of powerful people' without knowing the state of evidence stemming from the procedural file, moreover in a situation in which I didn't even act in the case in question, is an unprecedented attack on the PG," stated Zilinka. PS stated that the PG's Office with its decision probably prevented the Resolution case from being investigated and a criminal group that likely thwarted the investigation of major corruption cases from being prosecuted. ko/df
