Bratislava, March 24 (TASR) - Patrik Dubovsky, who didn't make it to the run-off round of the presidential election, hasn't ruled out supporting Ivan Korcok, and possible support for Korcok will also be considered by the 'Slovakia' party, which had its leader Igor Matovic as a candidate in the first round of the election.
"After negotiations with my partners in Parliament, who gave me their votes, I believe that we'll come to the opinion that I have, that we won't support Peter Pellegrini [Voice-SD]," he told TASR. After a successful conversation with Korcok, he expects that they could agree on his support and call for it. "There's no need to rush things, we need to define common goals, and then expressing trust before the second round will sound natural," he stated.
Dubovsky, like Matovic, was supported in his candidacy by the parliamentary caucus of the 'Slovakia', 'For the People' and 'Christian Union' (KU) parties. Dubovsky was chosen as a candidate by 'For the People' and KU.
The Slovakia party is due to discuss possible support for Korcok before the second round at the party presidium on Monday (March 25). "I don't know if a decision will be made tomorrow. I suppose we'll meet him first if he is interested," Slovakia party caucus chair Michal Sipos told TASR.
Matovic commented on the results of the first round of the election on a social network, stating that it's good to see that a democratic Slovakia can win again after some time.
Ivan Korcok made it to the second round of the presidential election on 42.51 percent of the votes, along with Peter Pellegrini on 37.02 percent. Voter-turnout reached 51.59 percent. The run-off round is due to be held on Saturday, April 6.
