Bratislava, May 2 (TASR) - Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) ruled out any sending of Slovak soldiers to Ukraine during the Thursday's Question Time in Parliament in response to statements made by French President Emmanuel Macron.
"Ukraine is not a NATO member state. Slovakia has nothing to do with the war in Ukraine and let me send a clear message to entire Slovakia: whoever might ask us for whatever, a Slovak soldier will never set foot past the Slovak-Ukrainian border," declared Fico.
As for the statements made by the French President, Fico claimed that this should be a bilateral affair only. "Sovereign statements by sovereign politicians are no one else's businesses but France's, not Slovakia's," said Fico and warned that such statements bring the world closer to WW3.
French President Emmanuel Macron told the Economist weekly that he doesn't rule out the sending of French troops to Ukraine. This issue would "legitimately" arise if Russia broke through the front line and Kiev asked for such a help.
