Bomb Threats Can Be Perceived as Test of State, MPs Gaspar and Grendel Concur

Bratislava, May 11 (TASR) - Speaking on RTVS's discussion programme 'Saturday Dialogues', Smer-SD MP Tibor Gaspar and Slovakia party MP Gabor Grendel concurred that the recent wave of bomb threats at schools can be perceived as a test of the state's ability to deal with such situations.
Gaspar didn't rule out that a session of the Security Council could be convened to address the threats. Grendel noted in this vein that he expects the session to take place.
Addressing the planned reorganisation of the National Crime Agency (NAKA), Gaspar denied claims that elite investigators will work on less important cases when they are transferred to regional and district police headquarters. He also denied claims about redundancies among NAKA investigators.
Grendel remarked on this note that the key question is what is the objective of this reorganisation and whether the goal will be met over time. According to him, every police chief has their own idea of how the police should work. The reorganisation of NAKA won't turn Slovakia into a safer country, however, he added.
Gaspar at the same time said that he'll probably meet the Russian ambassador to Slovakia in Parliament next week, noting that he considers it natural to meet an ambassador who requests a meeting. According to Gaspar, even though Russia has violated international law with its invasion of Ukraine, diplomatic relations with the country must be maintained.
Grendel called the meeting with the ambassador inappropriate. Moreover, he lambasted the fact that Slovakia sent its chargé d'affaires to the recent inauguration of re-elected Russian President Vladimir Putin.
