Gov't OKs Plan to Construct New Nuclear Reactor Block at Jaslovske Bohunice

Bratislava/Handlova, May 15 (TASR) - At its away-from-home session in the town of Handlova (Trencin region) on Wednesday, the government approved a plan to build a new nuclear reactor block with an installed capacity of up to 1,200 megawatts (MW), using existing infrastructure at Jaslovske Bohunice. At the same time, the Cabinet tasked the proposal's submitter, Economy Minister Denisa Sakova (Voice-SD), and Finance Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) to submit draft conditions for constructing reactor block No.5 at Jaslovske Bohunice to the government by October 31, 2024. These include deadlines for completing the preparatory and implementation work, the anticipated construction schedule, how the construction work will be covered financially and the process for selecting an investor and the technology suitable for building the nuclear facility. ko/df
