Yazaki to Close Plant in Michalovce Gradually, over 200 Jobs to Be Lost

Michalovce, May 26 (TASR) - Car-component producer Yazaki Europe has announced that it will gradually end operations at its plant in Michalovce (Kosice region), citing the current situation in the automotive industry as the reason for the decision. According to a statement that Yazaki has provided to TASR, the decision will affect 207 employees of its Michalovce plant. During the transition period, the plant will continue producing until June 2025. The number of employees will be reduced gradually, in several waves. "Before making this difficult decision, our team actively evaluated and examined several possible scenarios for continuing production. Yazaki is grateful to all employees and partners for their commitment, support and cooperation," stated the company, stressing that it will provide maximum support to its employees in Michalovce. ko/df
