Bratislava, August 16 (TASR) - The Milan Simecka Foundation has nothing to do with the Slovak opposition or the Progressive Slovakia (PS) chairman, said leader of the opposition PS party and Parliamentary Vice-chair Michal Simecka in response to the coalition Slovak National Party (SNS), which criticised the financial connection of the Simecka family via its companies to the Art Support Fund (FPU), TASR was told by Matus Krcmarik from the PS media department on Friday. "It's an independent foundation that has been working in Slovakia for more than 30 years. Over that time it has carried out perhaps hundreds of great projects for thousands of pupils, teachers and municipal employees across Slovakia," said the PS chairman, adding that the Milan Simecka Foundation is staffed by independent people, that is has a board of directors and that all its annual reports can be found on the internet. The PS head noted that the Milan Simecka Foundation was named after his grandfather, the philosopher and dissident Milan Simecka (1930-1990). The junior coalition SNS party called on Simecka to ensure that the foundation named after his grandfather "doesn't touch FPU money". Culture Minister Martina Simkovicova (an SNS nominee) drew attention to the use of FPU subsidies by the Milan Simecka Foundation, pointing out that the foundation also had subsidies approved for 2025 and 2026. am/df
