Bratislava, August 27 (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini, House Vice-chair Peter Ziga (Voice-SD) and Premier Robert Fico (Smer-SD) on September 1 are set to sign a joint declaration on foreign policy issues, declaring a unified approach, Pellegrini himself reported after meeting Fico on Tuesday. "Together we will sign a declaration of the top three state officials on a joint approach on foreign policy issues, declaring clearly where Slovakia belongs, what foreign policy it wants to pursue and in what cases we will show unity in our approach so that there will be no doubts," the president said. At the same time, he reiterated that he wants to resume an intensive dialogue at the level of the top three official and seek joint solutions and procedures on domestic and foreign policy issues. Pellegrini at the same time noted that this was the first time he officially met Fico since the assassination attempt on the premier in May. "Sometimes it seems to me as if your [Fico's] effort for a quick recovery and your relatively quick return to the performance of your duties gave part of society the impression that nothing serious happened at all and that society and part of the political representation have somehow returned to an extremely hostile political battle, and sometimes it seems to me that with even greater intensity," said Pellegrini to Fico. It is therefore necessary, he added, to stress that the attack on the prime minister was and is also an attack on democracy in Slovakia. zel/mcs
