SaS to Support Frantisek Miklosko as Candidate for House Chair Post

Bratislava, September 10 (TASR) - The opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party will support Frantisek Miklosko as a candidate for the House chair post, its representatives told a news conference on Tuesday, criticising the fact that the coalition still hasn't agreed on the new chief of Parliament. "The post of the House chair hasn't been properly filled. It's a scandal," noted MP Maria Kolikova (SaS). According to her, the governing coalition doesn't care about ensuring the proper functioning of Parliament. Kolikova also pointed to the need to elect the head of the special parliamentary committee for the supervision of the Slovak Intelligence Service (SIS). MPs for SaS suggested that the committee head be elected at the ongoing parliamentary session. Kolikova, who was dismissed from the post in June, will apply to be re-elected. Christian Democrats (KDH) leader Milan Majersky earlier on Tuesday announced that the opposition will come up with its own candidate for the House chair post. They want to nominate Frantisek Miklosko for KDH. MPs from the Progressive Slovakia caucus, as well as those from the caucus of 'Slovakia', For the People and the Christian Union parties expressed their support for him as a candidate for the post. ko/mcs
