Bratislava, September 15 (TASR) - The number of personal bankruptcies in Slovakia decreased by 20 percent year-on-year (y-o-y) to 688 in August, the third lowest figure seen this year, according to an analysis published by CRIF – Slovak Credit Bureau (CRIF SK), which manages the credit registries of banking and non-banking houses. Of the total number of bankruptcies, 428 concerned men and 260 women, confirming the long-term trend that men go bankrupt more often than women. "Men accounted for over 62 percent of personal bankruptcies in August. In both genders, personal bankruptcy is used at an overwhelming majority by people with only primary- and secondary-school education, with their share exceeding 97 percent in August. Only ten men and six women with university education declared themselves personally bankrupt," stated the company. Personal bankruptcies were mostly declared by people of productive age, with the age category of between 30-39 prevailing among both genders in August. The CRIF analysis further showed that 14 percent of the total number of personal bankruptcies were declared by homeless people in August, which was much higher than in other months. Nine married couples and 22 people with family ties went bankrupt in August. As many as 680 debtors (98 percent) opted for bankruptcy, while only eight opted for instalment calendars. "Of the total number of bankruptcies in August, 629 were declared for the assets of private individuals and 59 for the assets of entrepreneurs," said CRIF chief analyst Jana Markova. ko/df
