Bratislava, September 17 (TASR) - The Danube River peaked at 970 centimetres overnight, Environment Minister Tomas Taraba (a Slovak National Party/SNS nominee) announced on a social network on Tuesday morning, adding that the current water level is 962 centimetres and that it will drop only slowly.
According to Taraba, more than 10,000 cubic metres of water per second is flowing through Gabcikovo and Cunovo.
"The damage across Slovakia is estimated to reach some €20 million. On the other hand, we're earning €1.3 million per day on average from the hydroelectric power plant during the flood," stated the minister, adding that Slovakia earned some €36 million during the previous flood wave in the spring.
