SNP80: Gemer-Malohont Museum Prepared Events Marking 80th Anniversary of SNP

Rimavska Sobota, September 20 (TASR) - On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP), the Gemer-Malohont Museum in Rimavska Sobota (Banska Bystrica region) has prepared a series of events and activities for the public, TASR was told museum PR manager Szilvia Toth. The museum staff will guide visitors through the sites of intense battles in Rimavska Bana on Friday (September 20), and they will present weapons and equipment from the Second World War in the museum's premises on Saturday (September 21). "Eight decades later, many people look at the insurgent territory only as the surroundings of Banska Bystrica, Brezno and Zvolen [all located in the western part of Banska Bystrica region]. However, fierce battles were also fought in the northern parts of the Gemer-Malohont area [eastern part of Banska Bystrica region]," said lecturer at the museum Elena Lindisova. am
