President Vetoes Water Act Amendment, One Provision at Odds with Constitution

20. septembra 2024 17:38
Bratislava, September 20 (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini has vetoed an amendment to the Water Act, President Office's communication department informed TASR on Friday. According to the president, the provision that got to the government's draft as part of an amending and supplementing proposal is highly likely in conflict with the Slovak Constitution. The provision concerns the change of ownership of the second and third-category roads that pass through waterworks. The temporary provision refers to the second and third-category roads that are owned by a self-governing region and pass through waterworks owned by the state and administered by a corporate entity founded by a ministry. In line with the draft amendment, these should switch to the ownership of the state and administration of a corporate entity founded by a ministry as of September 30. ko/mcs
