Banska Bystrica: Demolition of Road Bridge in State of Disrepair Initiated

Banska Bystrica/Bratislava, September 21 (TASR) - The demolishing of a road bridge in Banska Bystrica borough of Kremnicka, closed since Thursday (September 19) due to its severe state of disrepair, has begun on Saturday, Banska Bystrica mayor Jan Nosko reported on the same day. Nosko added that the works continue as planned, with about half the bridge already demolished. The R1 road is slated to be reopened as of Monday (September 23). The demolishing works worth a total of €231,000, VAT included, are carried out by Metrostav Slovakia. On Wednesday (September 18), the Banska Bystrica local authority decided to remove the 50-year-old bridge after an unfavourable assessment of its structural integrity. mf
