Lackovic: Most Successful Slovaks Working in USA Meet at Slovak PRO Summit

New York, September 25 (TASR-corresnpondent) - Some of the most successful and most active Slovaks living and working in the USA met at a two-day Slovak PRO Summit 2024 that took place in New York earlier this week, TASR has learnt from its special correspondent in New York. "We brought them into a single room to get to know each other and come up with new activities, initiatives and to help our community and thus also Slovakia," project director Vladimir Lackovic told TASR after the event. The community of Slovak experts in the USA is constantly expanding and, therefore, this year the organisers invited only a selected 100 guests to the event that was held at the Slovak Consulate General in New York. "However, we could fill three or four such rooms," stated Lackovic. These are top experts working at universities, managers of companies or start-ups, scientists, as well as other experts. The main speaker of the event was the former ice-hockey player and Stanley Cup winner Marian Gaborik, while Slovak President Peter Pellegrini delivered a final speech and held a debate with the participants. According to Lackovic, Slovak PRO organises events all over the United States. It has been operating in seven cities and it plans to expand. As part of the project, a meeting of five Slovak astronomers was organised at Harvard University, while an event for Slovak experts in cyber security was organised in New York. Lackovic mentioned last year's visit by then Slovak President Zuzana Caputova to the USA. She brought Slovak entrepreneurs with her to San Francisco and Slovak PRO helped them establish contacts in Silicon Valley. He also spoke about the recent conference for technologists and people engaged in the creative industry in Texas, where Slovak PRO brought representatives of Slovak companies and prepared opportunities for them to meet important people. This year, Slovak PRO has already organised more than 25 meetings of professionals in the USA, with its members doing all these activities as volunteers. ko/mcs
