Bratislava, September 30 (TASR) - Before the most recent general election, the parties of the incumbent governing coalition promised even the impossible to the public, but currently the country is enduring chaos, high prices and impunity for criminals, said Progressive Slovakia (PS) leader Michal Simecka on Monday, one year after the election. "Before the election, they promised the impossible in order to come to power. Cheaper food, higher living standards, reducing politicians' salaries, rolling up their sleeves and building roads and hospitals. When the campaign was over, they quickly formed a government and Slovakia's problems were immediately side-lined. They started to work. But only for themselves and their associates," noted Simecka. On this note, the PS leader once again lambasted the recent scrapping of the Special Prosecutor's Office, changes to the Penal Code and increases in the salaries of ministers. Simecka at the same time noted that Slovakia is the only country among the most recent EU-member states that has become poorer over the last ten years. "They have been in power for 4,700 days, Fico is a four-time prime minister. No one has ever had so much power in the country and done so little," remarked Simecka. According to the PS leader, the governing coalition will keep making new promises and then follow them up with excuses and fabrications. In this vein, he reiterated his aim to beat Smer-SD in the next general election. zel/mcs
