Government Disagrees with No-confidence Motion in Justice Minister Boris Susko

Bratislava, October 1 (TASR) - The government decided at its remote session on Monday (September 30) that it doesn't agree with the opposition proposal to oust Justice Minister Boris Susko (Smer-SD), considering the motion to be unfounded in all its parts. "The Constitutional Court buried all of the opposition's objections to the amendments to the Penal Code, including the legislative process of their approval, which lasted three months, the scrapping of a toxic element - the Special Prosecutor's Office, the adjustment of crime rates and the amount of damages, and upheld the constitutionality of the actions of the justice minister and the entire government," the government said in its opinion. The no-confidence vote in Susko was initiated by opposition MPs, who objected, among other things, to his decision to file an appeal in the case of convicted former special prosecutor Dusan Kovacik and to suspend his imprisonment pending the decision of the Supreme Court on the appeal. The head of the Justice Ministry stands by his actions. MPs are due to discuss the proposal at the current parliamentary session. am/mcs
