Bratislava, October 1 (TASR) - The opposition parties' resistance to the proposed package of laws to consolidate public finances continues, with Igor Matovic's 'Slovakia' party being the latest to announce the tabling of a number of amendments which, according to MPs, should mitigate the impact of the planned measures on the population, 'Slovakia' MPs told a press conference on Tuesday. Several of the proposals are intended to reverse the government's basic proposed measures, such as the increase in the value added tax (VAT) to 23 percent. "The first amendment is the reduction of the announced VAT, value added tax, from 23 percent to 20 percent," said MP for the party Julius Jakab. Another of the proposed changes in the consolidation package is to keep the parental pension at the same level as it is currently. The child tax bonus should also undergo a change. The party proposes that if a family has three or more children, the bonus shouldn't be cut. am/mcs
