President: Contribution to Ethnic Minorities Culture Support Fund to Be Raised

Bratislava, October 3 (TASR) - President Peter Pellegrini on Wednesday (October 2) signed an amendment to the law on the Ethnic Minorities Culture Support Fund, increasing the contribution to the fund to €8.8 million, according to information published by the President's Office on its website. The increase in the allocation from the state budget by €500,000 is related to official recognition of the Vietnamese ethnic minority. From now on, the fund's support activities will also concern this 14th official ethnic minority in Slovakia. The amendment also brings a change in the number of members of the fund's board of directors, which should be increased from 15 to 17. As one member from the Vietnamese community will be added to the fund's board of directors, the board will have an even number of members. Therefore, the amendment's submitters proposed that the culture minister should appoint and dismiss two board members. ko/df
