Bratislava, October 4 (TASR) - The newly elected presidium of the Hungarian Alliance party has held its first meeting on Friday, TASR was told by the party's press department. The members of the presidium have defined the areas of expertise they will be in charge of in the coming months and adopted a position on current government decisions as well as on the traditional issues of the protection of the Hungarian community and other national minorities, and defined the necessary steps in this respect. Regarding the government's consolidation package, the party rejects any increase in the financial burden on the population. "The presidium is aware of the economic situation in the country, but finds it unacceptable that the government is unwilling to effectively make savings also on itself. The transaction tax adopted will affect all our institutions, even those in the charity sector, in addition to the general public. A 'chain' of transaction taxes could ultimately increase inflation by several percent," said the party. am/mcs
