VsZP: Optimalisation to Be Conducted in Several Stages

Bratislava, October 7 (TASR) - The optimalisation process of the state-owned VsZP health insurer, aimed at streamlining the efficiency with which it uses public resources, will be carried out in several stages, with none of them set to impact policy-holders, TASR was told by the VsZP press department on Monday. "We're doing everything to keep public health insurance resources in the system. It is a worthwhile endeavour to route financial resources into hospitals and the provision of comprehensive health care. Policy-holders are a priority for us. We want to protect them from senseless fees and come up with sustainable and efficient solutions for health care," stated the VsZP board of directors. As of November 1, the VsZP plans not to renew contracts with single-day health care providers, citing inefficient use of financial resources on their part. Representatives of the outpatient sector as well as the opposition criticised this VsZP move, however, and warned that it might lead to longer waiting times for surgery and treatment. mf/mcs
