Interior Ministry: Extremist Ideologies Target Jews and Roma as Enemy

dnes 21:14
Bratislava, October 7 (TASR) - Extremist ideologies perceive as the enemy mostly Jews, Roma, liberals and LGBTI people, according to the 2022-23 Monitoring Report on the State of Extremism in Slovakia, which the Interior Ministry has submitted for comments. "As part of the trend in the dissemination of far-right ideas and movements from abroad, which present violence as a legitimate form of pursuing their goals, it is necessary to draw attention to a new form, in which they organise activities for their followers in clubs that support physical training, the developing of martial arts skills, white nationalism and activism within the so-called Active Clubs cells," reads the text. Among other trends on the rise are the militant accelerationism [a movement aimed to speed up the disintegration of democracy -ed.note] and a community of the involuntarily celibate. The Interior Ministry warned that the anti-establishment and anti-government extremism doesn't fall into traditional categories of right, centre, left or violent Islamic extremism and is not bound to any ideology. "It is shaped by socio-economic, technological and geopolitical factors as well as global crises," reads the text. The greatest challenge among modern technologies continue to be social networks, whereas AI tools enable easy production of propaganda material. mf/mcs
