Modra, October 9 (TASR) - Education Minister Tomas Drucker (Voice-SD) has condemned attacks by extremist politicians and disinformation media on schools, doing so in response to attacks on a grammar school in Trencin that wanted to organise a commemorative event dedicated to the victims of a terrorist attack on a gay bar in Bratislava city centre in 2022. "It's absolutely unacceptable that such a high-quality school, or any other school, should be the target of a primitive campaign and intimidation," stressed Drucker. According to the minister, the content of education in schools should not be decided by people who deny the Holocaust or for whom the Slovak National Uprising is a black day in history. "I'm calling on them to leave children and schools alone," he said. On this note, the minister rejected the spread of harmful ideologies at schools. "Schools are apolitical institutions and must remain a safe space for education and bringing up children free from political influences," he remarked, adding that the content of education should be decided by experts, not politicians. Drucker at the same time drew attention to more important issues in schools, such as bullying and the spread of misinformation. zel/df
