SNP80: Quizzing in Museum to Combine Entertainment with Learning about SNP

Banska Bystrica, October 17 (TASR) - On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP), Banska Bystrica-based Central-Slovak Museum (SSM) is coming up with a novelty - an interactive evening format called 'Quizzing in Museum', SSM manager Dana Kurtikova has informed TASR. Participants in the quiz show, which will start at 6 p.m. on October 25 in Thurzo's House, will have the opportunity to combine entertainment with learning about one of the most significant moments in the history of Slovakia. The event will also be attended by war veteran Vladimir Strmen. "We are commemorating the 80th anniversary of outbreak of the SNP this year. We in the SSM don't forget about this important milestone in the Slovak history. For our long-term, but also new visitors, we've prepared an attractive format, which hasn't yet taken place in the museum, but we know that it's popular among the public. Quizzing in the museum is based on a quiz, as it's obvious from its name, but it will not be the kind we are used to. We think that we could deepen people's knowledge about various areas of history in a pleasant way through events like this," stated SSM director Marcel Pecnik. Participants in the event will compete in teams and test their knowledge of the SNP, its heroes and key moments. It's enough to listen carefully and remember the things. Each team will be composed of a minimum of four but a maximum of six competitors aged 15+. Interesting questions will be prepared for the quiz, supplemented by unique artefacts and demonstrations. The SNP was one of the most significant events in the history of Slovakia and a symbol of resistance to Nazism during WWII. ko/mcs
