Bratislava, October 18 (TASR) - A revision has confirmed the economy's better performance this year, but the economy grew more slowly in 2022 and 2023, according to a recent report by the Statistics Office, which published revised data on Slovakia's GDP from 1995 to 2024. Last year, according to the revised data, the economy grew by only 1.4 percent, while in the beginning of this year the performance exceeded 3 percent. The performance of the Slovak economy in the first two quarters of 2024 was better than previously published data showed. The economy grew by up to 3.3 percent in the first quarter of 2024, with the original data showing a growth of 2.7 percent. In the second quarter, the performance was revised from the initial 1.9 percent to an updated 2 percent. The revision at the same time confirmed that GDP grew by 1.4 percent year-on-year in 2023, with the initial report released in the spring this year stating that the growth reached 1.6 percent. Similarly, in 2022, the Slovak economy grew only by 0.4 percent, with previously published data indicating a growth of 1.9 percent. Conversely, the performances in 2020 and 2021 were actually better, with GDP growing by 5.7 percent in 2021 (originally 4.8 percent) and the decline in 2020 easing from the original minus 3.3 percent to minus 2.6 percent. zel/mcs
