Poll: Smer and Progressive Slovakia Tie for First Place

Bratislava, October 21 (TASR) - Had a general election taken place in mid-October, Smer-SD and Progressive Slovakia (PS) would have tied for first place, with both parties garnering 21.3 percent of the votes, according to a recent poll carried out by AKO agency on behalf of television channel Joj 24. Other parties to make it into Parliament would have included Voice-SD on 15 percent of the votes, Republic on 6.8 percent, Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) on 6.5 percent, the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) on 6.2 percent and the coalition consisting of the Slovakia party, Christian Union and For the People. The Slovak National Party (SNS), currently in Parliament, would have failed to make it on 4.8 percent. Meanwhile, the extra-parliamentary Democrats party would have failed to make it on 4.7 percent.
