Bratislava, October 25 (TASR) - Justice and security are in disarray after a year of Robert Fico's (Smer-SD) government, MPs for the opposition Progressive Slovakia (PS) stated at a press conference on Friday, criticising, for example, the amendment to the Penal Code or the failure to address the situation related to human rights violations. They objected to several actions and decisions taken by head of the Justice Ministry Boris Susko (Smer-SD). "Women and children experiencing violence, involuntarily sterilised Roma women, LGBTI+ people and many others are waiting for the time when their lives are finally better, more peaceful and safer as was proclaimed in the Government Manifesto. And nothing. And not only the minister [Susko] doesn't address the situation of human rights violations, he also contributes to its worsening, including by restricting the right of assembly in the case of the Lex Assassination Attempt or by attacking NGOs and the media," said MP Lucia Plavakova (PS). The PS MPs also criticised the scrapping of the National Crime Agency and the Special Prosecutor's Office, mentioning purges. They also lambasted Susko for the decision to appeal in the case of legally convicted former special prosecutor Dusan Kovacik and to suspend his prison sentence pending the decision of the Supreme Court on the appeal. am/mcs
