Krajci: Important for Doctors to Put Pressure on Cabinet via Resignation Notices

Bratislava, October 29 (TASR) - It's important that doctors are putting pressure on the government with their resignation notices, MP and former health minister Marek Krajci ('Slovakia', 'For the People', Christian Union/KU) told a press conference on Tuesday, adding that the doctors are fighting for the nature of the Slovak health-care system, about whether financial groups and politicians, who will award contracts to these financial groups, will make the decisions.
According to Krajci, the 'Slovakia' party backs all the points of the memorandum signed by Eduard Heger's government and subsequently approved by Parliament in 2022. "We insist that Robert Fico's (Smer-SD) cabinet should give up the senseless cuts in the living standards of health-care workers who work in our hospitals," said the MP, stressing that the party doesn't want the current government to interfere in the memorandum, as it has positive results.
The party agrees with the negative attitude of the Doctors Trade Union (LOZ) towards the possible privatisation of hospitals. According to Krajci, this is a road to hell, and the public dimension of state hospitals should be preserved. "Slovak patients need the state to provide end professional health care, for it to finance it in a quality way and thus ensure free health care for the citizens of our country, which is guaranteed by the Constitution," stated Krajci.
