Two Attackers Mounted Physical Assault on Trencin Hospital Personnel

Bratislava/Trencin, November 1 (TASR) - Two men aged 16 and 20 attacked on Friday night the personnel of the Trencin hospital and a person accompanying a patient, who tried to help the hospital employees fend off the attackers, TASR learnt from Martina Holecova of the Trencin Faculty Hospital on the same day. The physical assault was condemned by Health Minister Kamil Sasko (Voice-SD), who is in touch with the hospital and Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok (Voice-SD). Sasko voiced his support to the injured. "Today, shortly after midnight, in our emergency department, an attack on our personnel occurred. The outcome is two assaulted nurses and two orderlies. The attackers were under the influence of alcohol and drugs," stated Holecova. Health Minister Sasko expressed his support to the attacked and injured, condemning the assault. He finds it disturbing that one of the perpetrators was a minor. "Regardless of that, however, people who act this way must bear full responsibility for their actions, which is why together with the Interior Minister, we will vigorously seek ways not only to protect efficiently those who take care of our patients and save our lives, but also introduce sterner punishments for perpetrators of such misdeeds," said Sasko, who finds violence in society unacceptable. mf/mcs
