Bratislava, November 5 (TASR) - Parliament on Tuesday turned down a resolution draft to condemn the "offending, vulgar and humiliating" statements by MP Rudolf Huliak (Independent) about MP Lucia Plavakova (PS), dated from September 25. The resolution also aimed to have the House extend an apology to Plavakova and urge Huliak to apologise to her as well. In addition, the resolution called on the government to take a resolute stand against vulgar, demeaning and offending statements against girls and women. "Such public declaration by the Slovak Government against hateful and degrading statements targeting women is necessary to ensure that every woman and girl in Slovakia can feel safe", reads the motion submitted by opposition's female lawmakers. The opposition drew attention to the fact that Huliak used profanities against Plavakova as a legislator both during his public press conference and later in the Chamber. mf/mcs
