Bratislava, November 5 (TASR) - Parliament rejected two motions tabled by opposition Progressive Slovakia to condemn the Russian attack on the children's hospital in Kiev and the longstanding vacancy in the House's top post, respectively, on Tuesday.
The first resolution was supposed to voice condemnation of the Russian airstrike against the children's hospital in Kiev on July 8, express grief over the perishing of victims and call on the government to condemn the attack as well.
In the second motion, the lawmakers proposed to hold a new election of the House chair, pointing out that ever since Peter Pellegrini was elected the Slovak President in April, Parliament has been left without a proper leadership. "The current state of affairs is unsustainable and is not backed by any legislation, seeing as the law doesn't stipulate that there is an option to task one of the House Vice-chairs to stand in as the House Chair permanently and with full powers, particularly at the time when the mandate of the House chair who tasked the House vice-chair has expired," reads the text, referring to House Vice-chair Peter Ziga (Voice-SD) who was tasked by Pellegrini to head Parliament in a temporary capacity.
